Pilot is the first episode of the first season of Superman & Lois.
Synopsis[]
Superman and Lois' return to idyllic Smallville is set to be upended by mysterious strangers.
Plot[]
Clark Kent and his wife Lois Lane have become successful individuals with Clark as the superhero “Superman” while Lois is a famous reporter in Metropolis. Clark and Lois have also raised 2 children Jonathan and Jordan Kent, the latter who was diagnosed with a social anxiety disorder. In the present-day, Superman stops a nuclear explosion. Clark returns home where Jonathan reveals he’s started quarterback for his school football team while he apologizes to Jordan for missing his therapy session. The following day, Clark gets fired from the Daily Planet and later discovers his mother had suddenly passed away from a stroke. At the funeral, Clark reunites with high school crush Lana Lang who is now married to Smallville fire chief Kyle Cushing and has 2 daughters Sarah and Sophie. While at the farm, Jordan and Jonathan get injured at their barn. Despite this, the boys suffer from no injuries. Lois’ father General Sam Lane informs Superman the explosion from before was caused by an unknown figure who knows Superman’s identity of “Kal-El”. Lana confronts Clark of a reverse morgage his mother Martha put so that he can sell the farm. Back at the farm, Jordan and Jonathan discover Clark’s pod he came in from Krypton years ago. Clark and Lois return and reveal to their sons Clark is in fact Superman, angering their sons. Clark approaches another nuclear explosion and confronts the stranger wanting his attention. Meanwhile, Jordan attends the bonfire Sarah invited him to while at Martha’s funeral. At the bonfire, Jordan kisses Sarah although is confronted by her boyfriend he didn’t know about. Jonathan steps in but is also pinned down, however, Jonathan’s attacker is interrupted when Jordan suddenly activates his abilities and saves Jonathan. Superman and the stranger’s battle is taken to space where the stranger stabs Superman with Kryptonite and falls back to Earth. Elsewhere, the stranger is revealed to be “Captain Luthor” from another Earth.
